Growing up

A picture is worth a thousand words, right... Well this one says it all to me, my baby girl is growing up. This is Hallie's first apple. She pulled it out of the fruit bowl and started eating. Babies can't eat apples! Oh wait, maybe she's not quite a baby anymore. Her 7 teeth make easy work of almost anything she wants to eat these days.

Don't you roll around on the floor eating apples all day? No, just Hallie...

Grandpa Dave

At the beginning of October Grant's Dad, Dave, was in Louisville on business. We were able to meet up with him and have dinner. Hallie loved getting to meet Grandpa Dave, and loved the new toys he bought her even more! It was a great night and we loved getting to spend time together!

Hallie and Troy, round 2

We packed up and headed over to D.C. again towards the end of September. We had heard that the Moreiras had a newly acquired Wii, so we of course had to go visit and see their new toy. Okay, really we wanted to visit these guys, (and Nathaniel too). There had been no recent pictures of our favorite Troy boy on the Moreira blog, sooo we were forced to visit in order to see this growing boy.

Troy is already upstaging Hallie in looking-at-the-camera abilities... We love her anyways.We were pleased to see that Troy is growing well, and cute as ever!

We spent an evening at the pool, Troy fell asleep after about 5 minutes of excitement. Hallie was tired, but true to form, wouldn't think of sleeping when there was so much fun stuff to watch.

We spent a good hour taking turns jumping off the high-dive. I'm pretty sure all of the 12 year olds were laughing at the "old" people who would stand at the end of the diving board for 5 minutes before we jumped, but it was soo high once we got up there. Grant had excellent form as you can see.

We went for a walk around a park one night.

And then we headed home. We arrived home with a Cristy, a Troy, and a speeding ticket. We were happy about 2 of those 3, and no we didn't get the ticket while Hallie was driving.A rare moment of quiet on the drive home.

Cristy was a HUGE help, and motivated me to get a few projects finished around the house. This is our family picture wall, we're still waiting on a few pictures.

And she helped me paint an ugly laminate bookcase we had. Grant claims he doesn't like it, but I think it's my favorite piece of furniture in our house now!

It was an amazing week, so so so much FUN! We finished it off with dinner at Nada, a Mexican restaurant (Nathaniel you guys totally win). Can you guess which tacos Cristy, the dietitian ordered? Yep, bacon, aka pork belly... might have been my favorite part of the whole week.

My new sweater was super cute today and kept me nice and warm until I puked on it :(

I'm finally getting some help around the house...

Who knew that a ten month old could be so helpful around the house? Hallie is eager to help with anything she can these days. She helps me reorganize the kitchen towels on a daily basis.

She helps load and unload the dishwasher.

I can't be too upset that she is trying to load while I unload, and unload when I'm loading. Help is help, I'll take what I can get.
She even helped Dad install cabinet locks on all the lower cabinets. Her attempts at deep cleaning has been halted for the time being, as she can no longer access the cleaning chemicals under the sink. Not to say I wasn't appreciative of her work with the Windex, I just thought maybe I should let her be a care-free kid for a few more years before I make her start helping with the windows.

This girl is a perfect match for our family! We work hard, but we play harder!
